Christian Poetry

Poetry has been used in religions for centuries. For Christians, an example of this is the book of Psalms.

 God's Creation

The leaves dance and flit
Birds singing
The beasts run and bound
Water running
All the peace is there

 Dancing With God

I stand alone, broken and humble.
You take my hand, twirling me.
With perfect grace and time, you dance along.
I feel safe and secure as we dance towards morning.
Love sweeps us up, awesome love.
I stumble and fall but you pick me up with ease.
I am carried along in your arms, ever rejoicing.

 Simple Prayer

I am soul sick, Lord.
I have a splinter that runs down the middle of my soul.
It is festered with sin.
It is brimming with infection.
I want to take it out and heal the wound,
But, oh, the pain that brings.
Lord, it hurts, I can feel the tears.
Please help me, the pain.
Only you can fix the gaping hole that is left.

Oh, the peace, the serenity.
Yes, the pain is still there
But with your help, I can take it.
You have healed me and my soul is whole.
Thank you, Lord.
I love you.

 Without You, I Am Human

I am weak-minded and ignorant
I have sought wisdom from my own resources
Always failing, I move ahead to the past left behind
I reach for myself when faced with a choice
There, I find nothing, yet drown in it.
God, you remind me of your strength
Now, you allow me to comprehend the sights before me
Revealing my love for you, the gossamer floors of my mind collapse
Reminding me,
Without you, I am human.

 Remembering

Remembering, I cringe.
Remembering, I flinch.
Blood, pain and sweat.

Remembering, I cry.
Remembering, I worry.
Stone, cave and gone.

Remembering, I rejoice.
Remembering, I exalt.
Here, now and alive.
